In front of the Lingyin temple, there is a hill called the Peak Flying From Afar. How did the hill get such a name? Actually, there is a legend, in the year 326, an Indian monk Huili came to Lingyin and built Lingyin temple. He found the hill in front of the temple exactly like the Lingjiu hill in India. He thought the hill must have flown from India, so he named it “Peak Flying From Afar”. There are altogether 338 stone carvings, the most brilliant one is the Future Buddha, the feature of the Buddha is his big belly. In China , there is an old saying, a carefree mind , a fatty kind . That is to say , if you are happy , you become healthy. And you can appreciate hundreds of different shape of Buddha, which carved in Five dynasty and Southern Song dynasty.
